Funeral Speech and Eulogy Support

Being asked to speak at a funeral or deliver part of a service can feel overwhelming. Many people want to honour their loved one properly but worry they will not know what to say or how to say it.

As an experienced funeral celebrant in Oxfordshire, I offer calm, practical funeral speech and eulogy support for individuals and families who need guidance, reassurance, and structure. This service is designed to help you feel prepared, supported, and confident enough to speak when it matters most.

Who This Support Is For

Forget me Not Celebrant Funeral Service

Funeral Service Coaching

This service is for you if:

  • You have been asked to write or deliver a eulogy and feel unsure where to start

  • You want to speak at a funeral but are worried emotions may overwhelm you

  • You are delivering part of a funeral service and want guidance on structure and tone

  • You are planning a funeral yourself and feel uncertain about what is appropriate

  • You want reassurance that what you are doing will honour your loved one properly

You do not need to be a confident speaker. You do not need to have the words ready. You only need the desire to do your best for someone you care about.

Help With Writing a Eulogy

Writing a eulogy can feel like a heavy responsibility. People often worry about forgetting important details, saying the wrong thing, or not doing justice to the life they are trying to honour.

I help you shape a eulogy that is honest, respectful, and personal. This includes listening carefully to your memories, helping you organise your thoughts, and supporting you to find words that feel natural and true to you.

The focus is not on perfection. It is on accuracy, warmth, and authenticity.

How I Can Help, Provide Support

Support can be as light or as involved as you need. This may include:

  • Helping you plan the structure of a funeral service
  • Supporting you to write a eulogy or tribute
  • Coaching you on how to read or speak clearly and calmly
  • Talking through what to expect on the day
  • Helping you decide what feels right for you and your family

Some people want help with just one reading. Others want guidance through the whole service. Both are equally welcome.

Support With Delivering a Funeral Speech

Speaking at a funeral is different from speaking anywhere else. It requires calm pacing, clarity, and emotional steadiness at a time when feelings may be raw.

I offer gentle coaching to help you feel more confident about delivery. This may include:

  • Talking through how to read or speak clearly

  • Helping you pace your words and manage pauses

  • Discussing what to expect on the day

  • Rehearsing if that feels helpful to you

This is not public speaking training. It is supportive, situational guidance designed specifically for funerals.

Working with Funeral Directors

Celebrant working with a Funeral Director Julie Farmer

Working alongside Funeral Directors

This service is designed to work smoothly alongside the arrangements made by the funeral director, not to replace or complicate them.

I liaise clearly and respectfully with funeral directors to ensure everyone involved understands the structure of the service, the roles being taken by family members, and how the ceremony will run on the day. This helps avoid uncertainty and allows the funeral director to focus on the practical arrangements, knowing the service itself is in safe hands.

When a family member is delivering part or all of the service, additional support and preparation can make a significant difference. It helps the service run calmly and on time, reduces the risk of unnecessary distress, and reassures everyone involved that the ceremony will be handled with care and professionalism.

Funeral directors who work with me know that I prepare thoroughly, communicate clearly, and respect the importance of timing, flow, and dignity. My aim is always to complement the care already being provided and to support families in a way that reflects well on everyone involved.

Knowing someone experienced is present often brings reassurance and helps the service run smoothly.

Testimonial

Dear Julie,

Many thanks indeed for all your efforts in helping to arrange the funeral on Friday and personally, for your help in drafting the Order of Service.

It went exceptionally well, thanks to your attention to getting the order of service right and your conduct of the service itself. On the latter, it was agreed by all that you officiated with just the right touch, showing considerable empathy, which drew out the best from the readers and the family, not to mention a deft touch as the service progressed.

It was a great credit to you, the crematorium staff and Becky at Memoria.

Please pass on my thanks to the crematorium staff. It was by far the best crematorium I have been to, well laid out and organised.

Once again, many thanks. Your support to us all was invaluable and much appreciated.
